Our faculty member, Prof. Dr. Cemalettin Baltacı, took part in a research team that successfully obtained a natural antibacterial compound from the waste of Tenebrio molitor (commonly known as the mealworm). The liquid extracted from the insect waste was found to be effective against bacteria.

The study was conducted jointly by Prof. Dr. İnanç Özgen, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ercan Aydoğmuş, and Veterinarian İlyas Öner from Fırat University, along with Prof. Dr. Cemalettin Baltacı and Dr. Abdulkadir Gül from Gümüşhane University.
